Et voilà, mon tour de la côte Ouest en photos s’achève avec un retour à San Francisco. Quand on s’imagine la ville, on pense tout de suite au fameux Golden Gate bridge, aux Cable cars.. Mais j’ai découvert à quel point les paysages naturels peuvent aussi être impressionnants ici ! Le genre de paysage fantasmagorique qui vous fait sentir tout petits et insignifiants…Et perdu au milieu de tout ça, accessible par un pont n’accueillant que deux personnes à la fois, un petit phare que n’aurait sûrement pas renié Alfred Hitchcock !

My West Coast photo tour ends with a return to San Francisco. When we imagine the city, we immediately think of the famous Golden Gate bridge, of the Cable cars… But I discovered how natural landscapes can also be impressive here! The kind of fantasy landscape that makes you feel tiny and insignificant … And lost amid all this, accessible by a bridge bearing only two people at a time, a small lighthouse that Alfred Hitchcock certainly would have not disliked !

Los Angeles

Comme promis, voici quelques photos de mon passage à LA (avec en guest star la présence de mon cher photographe qui vous fait coucou en pierrafeu) ! C’est une ville vraiment déroutante, immensément grande et aux multiples facettes. J’ai adoré les paysages vus des hauteurs de la ville (notamment de la célèbre Mulholland drive), les boutiques chics, les restaurants délicieux, les plages, l’ambiance festive de Venice, et les studios Universal (so much fun !). Par contre j’ai été un peu déçue par Hollywood Boulevard (pas très glamour contre toute attente), et par les longues routes vides qu’il faut traverser pour arriver d’un point à un autre. Le séjour s’est terminé dans le coin de Malibu, sur une plage toute mimi fréquentée par les surfeurs. En bref, une visite intense, mais trop courte pour vraiment comprendre LA (il va donc falloir que j’y retourne CQFD) !

As promised, here are some photos from my trip to LA (with my dear photographer as a guest star in his Flinstones suit!) That city is really confusing, immensely large and multifaceted. I loved the scenery seen from high above the town (including the famous Mulholland Drive), chic boutiques, exquisite restaurants, the beaches, the funky atmosphere of Venice and Universal Studios (so much fun!). By cons I was somewhat disappointed by the Hollywood Boulevard (not very glamorous against all odds), and long empty roads that we must cross to get from one point to another. The trip ended in Malibu, on a cute beach frequented by surfers. In short, that was an intense visit but too short to really understand LA ( means that I have to come back )!

Ca y est, mon séjour californien est fini et je suis donc revenue en France, luttant tant bien que mal contre le méchant jet-lag. Quand des vacances sont aussi géniales, le retour à la réalité est d’autant plus difficile ! Mais il reste de merveilleux souvenirs, des photos et l’espoir de revivre tout ça un jour… Parlant de photos, je m’étais promis de vous en poster au fur et à mesure, mais finalement je n’en ai pas vraiment eu le temps. Je me rattrape donc en vous balançant à la suite celles que j’aurais voulu vous montrer la semaine dernière ! Je commence donc ici par Vegas, suivi par LA, et ensuite un petit coin de San Francisco que j’ai beaucoup aimé. Et d’autres posts concernant mes petites emplettes sont aussi prévues prochainement (car oui, emplettes il y a eu!)

Here it is, my stay in California is over and I am back in France, fighting against the wicked jet lag. When vacations are so great, the return to reality is even more difficult! But what remains are wonderful memories, photos and the hope to return there one day … Speaking of photos, I had promised to post some regularly, but eventually I didn’t really have time. So here are the photos I should have show you last week in on shot! I’m beginning here by Vegas, followed by LA, and then a small corner of San Francisco that I loved. And other posts about my shopping are also planned soon (because yes, shopping there was!)

Non, la veste en laine n’est pas nécessaire en Californie à cette période de l’année ! Mais lorsque la marque Sowewhere m’a proposé de concocter une tenue avec cette veste, je l’ai embarquée dans mes valises pensant bien trouver un moment pour faire une séance photo. Et c’est donc dans une rue de la banlieue chic de San Francisco très Desperate Hoousewives que je me suis retrouvée…Non mais franchement, on imaginerait bien Gabrielle Solis faire son jogging ici non?

No, wool jacket is not required in California at this time of the year! But when the brand Sowewhere suggested I put together an outfit with this jacket, I took it in my bags thinking I would find time to do a photo shoot. And so it was in a street in the suburb of San Francisco, so Desperate Hoousewives … We easily can imagine Gabrielle Solis jog here right?

Under the bridge

J’arrive à plus de la moitié de mon séjour, et j’ai l’impression de vivre en plein rêve…J’aime la vie ici, j’aime les paysages grandioses, j’aime les gens qui sont adorables…Toutes les photos du monde ne pourront pas retranscrire ce que je ressens, d’autant plus que, j’avoue, j’ai un peu la flemmite de l’appareil photo (je préfère profiter que shooter à tout va!). Mais cependant, les habitudes ont la vie dure, voici donc le résultat d’une petite séance photo improvisée, avec en arrière plan le célèbre pont…Et je promet, ce n’est pas un décor en carton !

I reach over half of my stay, and I feel like living in a dream … I love life here, I love the scenery, I like people who are adorable. .. All the photos in the world can’t describe what I feel, especially since, I confess, I’ve been lazy with my camera (I prefer to enjoy my stay rather than taking tons of pictures !). But still, habits are hard to get rid off, so here is the result of a small photo shooting with the famous bridge as a background…And I promise, it’s not a fake set !

Cap sur Londres

Raah vous vous dites sûrement « elle est marrante la Lulla, elle annonce son retour et elle nous abandonne en ce début de semaine» .Euuh, pas vraiment d’excuse sur ce coup, si ce n’est que j’ai profité d’un week-end prolongé pour mettre le cap sur Londres ! C’est toujours un plaisir de retrouver cette ville aux multiples facettes et cette fois-ci n’a pas échappé à la règle. Au programme de la bonne bouffe (oui, la bouffe anglaise est yummyyy), des balades au bord de la Tamise, une petite visite à la Tate Modern et (oui, je n’ai pas oublié quand même) du shopping en veux tu en voilà ! Dire qu’au départ je ne voulais pas forcément faire de shopping, juste profiter du séjour et me balader…Résolution totalement irréalisable dans une ville aussi tentatrice que Londres ! Bon, pour me rattraper, voici quelques adresses testées et que je vous recommande chaudement :

Surely you must tell yourself : « Funny Lulla she announced her return and she leaves us in beginning this week. » Err, I don’t really have an excuse on this one, except that I took advantage of a long weekend to set sail for London! It’s always a pleasure to come back in this wonderful city and this time was no exception to the rule. Here’s the program : good food (yes, the food in England is yummyyy), walks along the Thames, a visit to the Tate Modern and (yes, I have not forgotten) shopping ! At the beginning I didn’t necessarily want to do shopping, just planned to enjoy the stay and hang around … Totally impractical in a city as tempting as London! Here are some addresses tested and I highly recommend:

Les chaussures vintage d’habitude ne m’inspirent guère mais là on va faire une exception, preuve à l’appui !
Usually I’m not too fond on vintage shoes but I gonna make an exception this time !

Farniente

Me voici de retour de Barcelone ! Il n’y a pas à dire, même pour quelques jours, ça fait vraiment du bien de faire un break ! En revanche j’avoue que là-bas le farniente m’a envahi…et que du coup il y a eu peu de photos prises et peu de shopping. Juste le plaisir de goûter au temps plus clément que dans nos contrées, de se balader…et de croiser Brian Molko devant la Sagrada Familia, puis au parc Guëll !

I’m back from Barcelona!Even for a few days, it feels really good to take a break! However I admit that I became lazy during thse vacations … so not many pictures were done, and few shopping too. Just the pleasure of tasting the warmer weather, to walk … and crossing the path of Brian Molko near the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell!

The other side of Berlin

Comme promis, voici un autre aspect de Berlin, autre que celui des buildings rutilants du post précédent : c’est le royaume des artistes, des lieux insolites et de la culture alternative. Ici les tags prennent l’ allure d’oeuvres d’art et des batiments désaffectés deviennent un lieu d’expression privilégié. En témoigne Tacheles, ancien grand magasin en ruines investit par des artistes et dont la cour a été transformée en plage où il fait bon de prendre un verre entre amis au son de mix electro. L’occasion était trop belle et le lieu suffisamment original pour ne pas tenter une petite séance photo improvisée…

As promised, here is another aspect of Berlin, other than the shiny buildings : the kingdom of artists, unusual places and alternative culture. Here tags take the form of works of art and abandoned buildings become a place of expression. As an example here’s Tacheles, former department store in ruins now invested by artists and which the court has been transformed into beach where it is good to take a drink with friends listening to an electro mix. The opportunity was too good and the place original enough not to try to do a small photo session …
